Appearance/Symptoms: Belt profile is uneven (asymmetrical angles on side or the ribs). Edge-cord may be frayed. Chirping noise. Belt may kink or twist while running, or belt can actually jump a groove on the pulley.

Cause: Worn tensioner pivot bearing allows idler to cause misalignment. Bent pulley shaft, accessory bracket or incorrect placement of pulley on the shaft.

Solution: Check pulleys, pulley brackets, and shafts-replace if bent or broken. Check belt tensioner for wobble. Replace if necessary. Replace belt.
