Not All Oils Created Equally: Do you know the difference between conventional, synthetic blend and full synthetic?

Conventional oil uses base oils enhanced in the blending process with chemical additives to help meet manufacturer's desired levels of heat tolerance, brake down resistance and viscosity.

Synthetic motor oil is a laboratory synthesis of precisely controlled ingredients created by oil engineers, scientists and chemists. When combined with a high-performance additive package, this results in an oil with the highest levels of lubrication and engine protection, generally offering better protection at start-up, better cleansing qualities, enhanced durability and better protection against heat buildup.

Synthetic blend motor oil is as the name suggests, it is a blend of full synthetic oil and conventional oil. Synthetic blend motor oil use a mixture of synthetic and conventional base oils for added resistance to oxidation (compared to conventional oil) and provide excellent low-temperature properties. It is a good middle ground without committing to the jump of a full synthetic.

The Serratos family believes it is their company's fiduciary duty to provide the best possible materials with the client's pocket book in mind.

Here is what Karolena Serratos had to say while on the Car Councelor Radio Show back in 2014:
"Yes, there are cheaper oil changes out there, the infamous $19.95 oil changes--some of them homes of  notorious bait-and-switch tactics, or the shops who provide lower quality materials. When you have a business you need to say who you are, and this is who we are, period. Last year [2013] the average cost for a used car was just under $16,000 [according to Edmunds.com]--do you really want to put the cheapest stuff you can find in what you put your life, your family's life in everyday?  I don't."

There are a few different types of oil change combinations for gasoline and diesel vehicles available at our auto maintenance and repair facility. It is important to take time to see which kind of oil change your vehicle demands and/or which oil change gives you more value for your particular driving habits and driving conditions your vehicle is exposed to more commonly. Whether you put a couple thousand miles on your cars every month or you put a couple hundred miles on your car a month-there is an oil change for each need. It is becoming increasingly more important to make sure the right weight of oil is used for your oil change. The newer and more sophisticated vehicles especially cannot have a different type of oil at each oil change-consistency is key for proper vehicle maintenance. It is not healthy for the car to switch back and forth from conventional oil to synthetic oil. The good news is once you have determined which oil change is right for you, the commitment is for the life of the car and only requires the car owner to do their homework once.
